Candle Warmer and Mug Warmer differ in their purpose. Although, the basic function is the same, i.e. heating, the purposes for heating are not similar at all. Apart from purpose, they also differ in terms of design.
Candle warmer is used to fill a room with the sweet fragrance of a scented candle. Candle warmer achieves this by melting the wax of the scented candle placed inside it. Thus, the candle warmer unlocks the fragrance present in the wax of the scented candle without burning the wick and generating soot which results when the wax is burned. The heating element required to melt the candle can be at the bottom, sides or top of the candle warmer.
Mug warmer is the best thing to happen for people who like their coffee or tea hot and strong. Mug warmer eliminates the problem of the mug of tea or coffee going cold when you are distracted due to some work and leave it unattended. Mug warmer restores the temperature of the tea or coffee to the desired level whenever you want to drink it. A mug warmer has a heating coil inside it which heats up when the mug warmer is connected to a power source. The heating coil transfers the heat energy to the base of the mug warmer. This heat energy is, in turn, transferred to the mug placed on the base and to the liquid contained in it. The heat keeps the drink at a warm temperature. Mug warmers are designed to prevent the liquids from reaching the boiling point. Thus, optimal heat is generated which is enough to keep the drink at a desirable temperature.
Candle warmers come in various designs. Some of them have been mentioned here.
Plate style candle warmer has a warming plate on which the candle needs to be placed. The candle is heated from the bottom to melt it. Scented jar candles of small and medium sizes can be used with plate style candle warmer. Plate style candle warmers are suitable for office spaces, studio apartments and bathrooms.
Crock style candle warmer resembles a mini crockpot. The sides of the pot are opaque and are usually embossed with many artistic designs. The heating elements are present in the sides as well as the at the bottom of the warmer. Thus, it melts the candle at a swiffer rate as compared to plate style candle warmer. Crock style candle warmers are suitable for kitchen, dining rooms and living rooms.
Lamp or lantern style candle warmer heats the candle from the top in the manner of a burning candle. One inch of wax is melted at a time to release the fragrance. They are available in many varieties such as carriage style lantern, wooden lamp, etc.
Mug warmers resemble drink coasters but are thicker and have more circumference as compared to drink coasters. The mug warmers are designed to accommodate mugs, but bowls are containing soup or some other liquid can also be placed on them. Mug warmers have electric cords to attach to power sources.
